Hello again. It’s been a while, but we’ve been away. Haha! Italy, this time.
As usual, we picked a few cookbooks off the shelves to provide some inspiration for the week. They head up this article.
First up ( Monday ) was Chicken with Gorgonzola and Pasta, accompanied by Peppers with Anchovy and Capers and a nice salad. The first two were from Gino, the salad was from the fridge and the garden.

On Tuesday, we also came back to Gino, this time for Sausages with lentils, peppers stuffed with tomatoes and some Italian type roasted potato cubes.

Wednesday was a nice evening, so we decided to eat outside. Tonight’s food suited it perfectly. Grilled tuna steak, courgette frittata, some minted boiled potatoes, a tomato and bean salad and a green salad. Plus, probably more wine than we should have. but there’s nothing new there.

Thursday was an even nicer evening, so this time we went off to the hills to meet some friends, drink some beer and have a bit of a picnic.
Those curly things are a bit like savoury chelsea buns. They are a bread dough rolled round some oven roasted veg, with some added ricotta. Next time, I’d forget the ricotta and put some punchy goat cheese or something in them. The other pictures are a couple of mixed salads that I made too.

I can only apologise for Friday’s picture. In my defence, it tasted so much better than it looked.
Duck stewed in wine, from Claudia Roden. It looked even worse before I thickened it a bit and added a bit of colour with some tomato paste and some peas.

Finally, Saturday saw us have onion and tomato soup with pancetta for lunch. The picture didn’t do it justice, so I photographed the page from the book.

In the evening, we decided to go classic Italian, and had a really nice lasagne. Pretty much using Gino’s mum’s recipe.
