The British Larder

We all have an obligation to do our bit with regards to saving the planet, and one of those things that I’d like to try is reducing my food miles.

The idea behind this is to try and find UK-only sourced foods for a whole year.

This will mean eating more seasonally in a lot of cases, something which I try and do anyway.

It will be more difficult when it comes to kitchen staples such as pasta, and rice.

Pasta shouldn’t be that hard, even if it means I have to resort to making my own. Rice on the other hand will be tricky so I may need to start looking at alternatives such as spelt or barley.

I’ve also got a pantry full of tins and packets which I don’t intend to waste, but as I get to the end of each one, I’ll make sure that I try and replace or substitute with something grown here.
